2022 Children Served
Hospitalization for Casey
October 2022- Casey is ten years old who was suffering from fevers with accompanying seizures. Upon arrival to the hospital, he was found to have a lung infection and accompanying issues. Treatment and time in both PICU and regular ward helped Casey. He recovered and was able to be discharged a few weeks later.
March 2023 UPDATE- We received the very sad news that Casey passed away.
Corrective Surgery for Tobias
June 2022- Tobias
is no stranger to the hospital as he has undergone corrective surgeries in the past. His latest was in January 2022. Now, Tobias is needing his next (and we believe final) corrective surgery later this summer. Hope's Heart is grateful to be able to fund this important procedure.
Surgery for Sawyer
February 2022- A hospital evaluation showed that Sawyer
is in need of a shunt to drain the extra fluid on his brain. As soon as a hospital stay can be arranged, Sawyer will have his need medically addressed.
March UPDATE- In mid-March, Sawyer received the critical surgery he needed to insert a shunt. His surgery went very well and Sawyer was in good spirits post-op.
2021 Children Served
A Busy Fall for Surgeries and Medical Procedures
September/October 2021- Finnick
and Fiona
were in need of cleft lip repair surgery, and we are thrilled to say that they both did beautifully and are now healing from their surgeries.
With concerning test results, it was determined that Kayme
needed surgery to repair a heart defect. Thankfully, she was able to have surgery in October; and Hope's Heart was honored to help fund her operation. Now, each of these three children have a brighter and healthier future in store for them.
Sweet Katrina, five years of age, needs an eye exam to determine the best course of action to help with her sight need. We trust that the exam will determine the exact course of action to help this little darling.
December UPDATE- Katrina has been to the eye hospital for testing. She needs to wear glasses for the next few months, then be reevaluated to determine further treatment.
Hospitalization and Treatment for Three Children
July/August 2021- Recently, Beatrice, Ryder
and Palmer
all spent time hospitalized for specific treatment of their health issues. As of late August, Beatrice and Ryder are back to the healing home for continued care and observation. Palmer was able to be discharged in early September.
Graham- Eye Surgery
August 2021-
Suffering from a retina detachment and other eye issues, Graham
underwent an eye examination and surgery. Surgery went smoothly on his left eye, but Graham's eyes will need further treatment down the line. For now, he has been discharged.
December 2021- Graham received surgery for a retinal detachment on his right eye this month.
Medical Attention for Two Children
June 2021-
Upcoming surgeries are needed to help bring hope and healing to two more children. Seven-year-old Lane
is needing cleft lip revision and cleft palate repair.
Ten-year-old Bowen
has untreated bilateral clubfoot. His mobility is severely affected. Surgery is the best chance for improvement in the function of his feet and legs. Prior to surgery, Bowen will go through a series of leg castings.
UPDATE-
Lane was able to have his cleft surgery in July. Three months later, he has recovered well and is described as a studious, optimistic and diligent boy. Bowen completed a series of castings over the past months and underwent a successful surgery in late October.
Wyatt- Hospitalization
February 2021-
Only days old and born prematurely, baby Wyatt was hospitalized for a severe lung infection. Throughout his weeks in the NICU, Wyatt proved to be a fighter overcoming his medical challenges. Hope's Heart was honored to play a part in the funding for his hospital stay and treatment.
August UPDATE- Little Wyatt continues to make progress and is getting stronger each day. His healing home caregivers say that he is more responsive and interactive, makes eye contact with others, and giggles and kicks his feet excitedly.
2020 Children Served
Cleft Palate Surgery for Cami
December 2020- Beautiful Cami
had successful cleft lip surgery in early June. This month, we are pleased to report that she had her second surgery, this time to repair the opening in her cleft palate. She was discharged at the end of December back to the healing home to continue her recovery and healing.
March 2021 UPDATE-
We celebrate the progress that Cami made AND are excited to announce that she was adopted in her home county this month.
Kirstin- Hospitalization for Pneumonia
October/November 2020-
This precisous newborn, Kirstin, was orphaned with severe breathing issues. Thankfully, she was hospitalized quickly to receive an evaluation and treatment. Diagnosed with severe pneumonia, this little one continues to receive the best of care.
UPDATE- Sweet Kirstin has recovered from pneumonia and was able to be released from the hospital into continued care of healing home nannies.
Hospitalization and Surgery for Nikolas
September 2020- Four-month-old Nikolas
was born with a very large meningocele on his lower back. He underwent a very complex surgery and remains hospitalized to combat infection and for his healing to begin.
November UDPATE- Nikolas remains hospitalized as his wound continues to heal.
Medical Needs to Address
August 2020- It's a very busy month for medical needs. Five special children are needing to have medical challenges addressed. First is one-year-old Jessi
who is currently hospitalized after experiencing a high fever and struggling to breathe. She is receiving treatment for acute laryngitis.
UPDATE: Following medication and nebulizing treatments, Jessie was well again and discharged from the hospital.
Reed
is in need of an eye evaluation due to some vision loss and discomfort. Rodney
is experiencing an issue with an eye duct, excessive tearing and potential infection. Kinna is a two year old awaiting surgery to repair a cleft lip. Mitch
needs ear surgery to improve his hearing and increase his confidence.
UPDATES: Rodney received surgery to unblock the tear duct and stop the excessive tearing. Mitch had surgery in early September and is recovering well. Kinna had her cleft lip surgery in mid-October. Reed's sight was checked by he will not be having surgery at this time.
Surgery for Tobias
June 2020- Two-year-old Tobias
desperately needed surgery because of a congenital condition called anal atresia. In June he was hospitalized for preliminary treatment followed by urgent surgery in July.
August UPDATE- In early August, Tobias was released from the hospital to healing home care. He will need a follow-up [second] surgery, but for now is receiving lots of TLC from the healing home nannies.
September UPDATE- Tobias received his second surgery in late September. He recovered quickly and is back to the healing home with his nannies and friends.
Hospital Treatment: Seizures
June 2020- Not feeling well and having multiple seizures, Tula
was rushed to the hospital for treatment. She is now stable. Following medication adjustments and further testing, she is expected to soon be released back to the healing home where she resides.
UPDATE-
Tula was released from the hospital.
Hospital Treatment: Pneumonia
June 2020- A cough and breathing difficulties landed baby Avery
in the hospital for evaluation and treatment. He is currently being treated for pneumonia, and we trust Avery will be feeling well very soon.
July UPDATE- After a month receiving hospital treatment, Avery was stable and able to be released into healing home care.
September UPDATE- Avery loves being held by his nannies, eats and sleeps well, and is moving forward in his development.
Hospitalization for Preemies
January 2020- Babies Elgin
and Ryder
were born prematurely, abandoned, and are currently in the NICU for life saving treatment. We join in prayer and financial support for their life and care.
March UPDATE-
Both Elgin and Ryder are progressing in their healing and growth. As soon as the quarantine from the coronavirus is lifted, we expect the boys to be discharged to a healing home for their continued healing.
May UPDATE- Elgin is now living with a foster family. After more than four months, Ryder has been discharged from the hospital to healing home care.
July UPDATE- Elgin has been adopted!
January UPDATE-
Following pre-surgery hospitalization, Dillon has been returned to his orphanage.
