2023 Children Served
First Time in Preschool
November 2023- It is with great excitement that ten healing home children began their first ever attendance at preschool.  Join us in welcoming Tessa, Katrina, Harland, Kolby, Jerome, Avery, Tobias, Macy, Elena and Beatrice to school!
The focus at this age is learning through games with a strong focus on having fun and making new friends.  The social and academic skills that the children learn are so important to provide a solid foundation for the rest of their lives.  The teachers report that the kids have been doing a good job of paying attention in class and overall, the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive.
Life Skills Camp: Investing in Teens' Future
August 2023- Although one week of camp cannot provide all the lessons the teens need to succeed in adulthood, Life Skills Camp is definitely a positive first step.  Hope's Heart was honored to sponsor eight of the 34 teens, offering them a chance to learn critical life lessons that were a steppingstone in their preparation for life outside the orphanage.
The teens were taught relationship tools, positives and negatives of social media, financial and budgeting skills, navigating public transportation, and that they are valued and that their life matters.

Feedback from the students were very positive.  Peter shared, "Summer camp will be the best memory of my life.  Thank you for supporting me so I could learn so much."  Scott shared, "I am so grateful for your sponsorship, which opened my eyes to the world."  Stephen commented, "Thank you for your encouragement.  I am extremely grateful for your sponsorship, which brought me so much joy that I had never experienced before."
What is the Classroom Focus?
May 2023- In addition to ongoing individualized training to learn new basic skills and master once that are continually reinforced, the focus for this season has been on 'Spring'.  The children learned about changes in nature like trees and plants blooming and animals coming out of hibernation.  They planted seeds and examined various sizes and shapes of seeds.  More time was spent outdoor as winter comes to a close.
Individual focus is geared towards the ability of each student.  A variety of skills are taught and reinforced like small and large motor development, navigating their way around the classroom and outside, getting along with others, climbing steps, going down a slide, and enjoying music and new foods.

August 2023- The theme this month was 'Busy Market'.  The teachers transformed the classroom into a little market with several stalls selling different items like books, toys, fruit, and snacks.  The children were given fake money and had the opportunity to purchase wares they selected from the stalls.  They enjoyed exploring and purchasing.

November 2023- This month's theme was 'Touch Time'.  The teachers spent the month helping the children get exposed to feeling different items and recognizing what they touch.  This is an incredibly important skill for helping the children grow into independent visually impaired adults.

Welcome Simon
April 2023- Six-year-old Simon is our newest education sponsorship child.  Simon can usually be seen close by his best friend, Georgie.  His teachers say that Simon is a great little helper in the classroom.
